Welcome back - Spring 1

We hope you and your families enjoyed a restful Christmas break and we would like to wish you all a very Happy New Year. We are looking forward to a busy and exciting Spring 1 half term ahead.

Our new school value for this half term is love, and we will be encouraging the children to demonstrate this through kindness, respect and care for one another. We are very proud of all the children’s achievements so far and can’t wait to see the progress they make as the year continues.

Please don't forget that Instagram is updated regularly, so you'll see lots of learning and experiences taking place on there. Remember, you can contact school at info@stjohnsrc.net.

PE days are now Monday and Friday.

Wednesday 21st January - Parent Workshop - maths 9am

Wednesday 4th February - Parent Worship - reading 9am

Reading Books

We encourage children to read for at least 30 minutes every day. We would appreciate your support in helping them to find some time every day to enjoy a book.

Some children will be given a banded reading book and all have a 'reading for pleasure' book to take home. Children should bring their reading book in every day as there will be opportunities for reading throughout the day. Their reading books will be changed every Friday if needed.

Homework

Please login into Atom Prime each week: https://atomlearning.com/prime

New English and Maths will be added every week.

Spellings

Children will be taught spellings through a new scheme called 'ELS' where workbooks are used regularly.  Their lessons include activities and quizzes throughout the week.

Children will not have a formal-style spelling test each week as they will be assessed in other ways (e.g. dictation, quizzes, independent application).
